Primul zbor a avut loc in 2007, doi ani mai tarziu avionul intrand in serviciul Fortelor Aeriene.

The newest version of the veteran Xian H-6, the H -6K , nicknamed “God of War” was surprised flying at Mission Action 2013 Phase B exercise. This is the first time that the bomber is involved in this kind of exercises, with the entire group of armed forces.

H -6K is the latest and probably last version of the H -6, Chinese version of Tupolev Tu -16.

Experts say H-6K is China’s first real and operational strategic bomber. The new version K received a new structural frame, new turboprop engines, a new front section and “glass cockpit” , by replacing old analog display with new LCD displays.

Also , H -6K received new-generation electronics and also the range of the bomber was increased to about 3,500 kilometers.

The first flight took place in 2007.
